Slava Derbenev

  • Conceptual development of JLEIC, particularly on the strong cooler (low RF/long wavelength, DTL-type structure, etc)
  • Prepared an invited talk at a special cooling workshop at Japan early next month

Fanglei Lin

  • Prepared and submitted an Early Career Award pre-proposal of polarized positron source, and continued the discussion of it.
  • Initiated electron spin tracking using ZGOUBI.
  • Preparing an talk for Spin Symposium 2016 on September 25-30.
  • Working on a TME-like-arc-cell electron ring optics with a Super-B chromaticity compensation scheme.
  • Miscellaneous: attended the bi-weekly non-linear beam dynamics meeting, attended the JLEIC weekly R&D meeting, attended the discussion on the JLEIC parameter wiki and svn.

Vasily Morozov

  • Ion collider ring: vertical doglegs, space charge and IBS, meeting with SLAC, parameter coordination meeting
  • Skew PIC: simulation of the cooling process with PTC, weekly meetings
  • GHOST: comparison of PTC and COSY expansions
  • Positron source: scheme development
  • Ion polarization: preparation to SPIN'16 and NAPAC'16
  • Crab crossing
  • Forward detection
  • Translation of Slava's thesis
  • Early career and SBIR proposals: isotope production, ion source

Amy Sy

  • Nonlinear compensation using single harmonics for each higher order multipole vs. both normal and skew harmonics.
  • Examined the effects of coupling strength in the Skew PIC channel on ease of nonlinear compensation. Previous simulations used "moderate" coupling strength. Chromaticity compensation is much more difficult with stronger coupling in the channel; no sextupole form able to control all particles through the channel. More flexibility in nonlinear compensation is possible using weaker coupling strengths.
  • Using weaker coupling as the new operating point in the Skew PIC channel, found sextupole and octupole forms that control particle dynamic behavior for angular distributions up to ± 65 mrad. Decapole optimization in progress.

Guohui Wei

  • Research on Ground Motion Activities with longitudinal simulation.
  • Model of detector solenoid for the JLEIC simulation in ELEGANT
  • Error study with sigma = 1 mm of misalignment (Former: sigma = 0.3 mm)

Yuhong Zhang

  • Participated various JLEIC related meetings
  • Participated cooling experiment data analyses
  • Organized JLab Collaboration Meeting and created a program, sent invitation to speakers
  • Gave a talk on luminosity performance without cooling at the JLEIC detector R&D meeting
  • Prepared a talk at S&T review
  • Prepared a talk in the collaboration meeting
  • Writing two papers
