  Previous (Apr 13 - Apr 24)
     - We finally know that the profile monitor at IMP does what it should, it just stores the time information wrong because of
       a bug in their implementation. I pointed out what they need to do to fix it in case they should need the thing again, but
       they don't seem particularly interested. Because it's impossible to infer the correct time scale from the metadata and the
       logbook entry doesn't correspond to the data in any physically reasonable way, we are now working under the assumption
       that there was a communication error in the control room that caused the logbook entry to be different from the actual
       setting, which we in turn infer from the data as we've been proposing for a few months now.
     -	The results part of the article is close to being finished. I'm sending out the current version today.
     -	Communications seminar was good.
     -	APS meeting was good, too, and surprisingly so. Not only because of the circumstances, but also because I'm used to the
       German counterpart, which is so appalling that the only reason to ever go there is to drink beer with old friends.

     - Continued work on the H- intrabeam stripping estimates; working through estimates in the paper on TRACK implementation of H- 
       intrabeam stripping as a sanity check, since the loss estimates currently obtained for the JLEIC example are orders of magnitude
       higher than in SNS.
     - Attended EIC software tutorial on using Python with root for nuclear physics data analysis. Some further study on the tools
       implemented in the tutorial.
     - A study of the various EIC Task Forces to determine areas of future contribution. Continued compilation of Task Force status
       updates for the EIC Design Update newsletter.
   Next two weeks (Apr 13 - Apr 24)
     - Continued work on the H- intrabeam stripping estimates. 
     - First meeting with BNL counterpart (Omer Rahman) on the forthcoming EIC design update newsletter. Discussion included looking for
       clarification on the intended audience for this newsletter, clarification on the official list of task forces, and plans for the 
       first edition in the first week of May. The current plan is to deliver monthly design updates.
     - Attending the Corporate Communications writing workshop sessions.

Joe Gubeli

   Previous two weeks (Mar 16 - Mar 27)
     - Isotope Experiment –Ran several thermal analysis of both the solid hBN and graphite blocks using a FLUKA power distribution
       from Keith W. The analysis results showed that graphite is by far a much better material to use to from a thermal as well as 
       electrical standpoint. The thermal distribution additionally showed that the side cooling plates need to be extended. Ran 
       five additional analysis of a gallium filled graphite crucible at both 1kW and 5kW with various thermal contact resistances. 
       These analysis used FLUKA power distributions as inputs. Unfortunately the geometry used in the FLUKA simulations were 
       incorrect and the both the FLUKA and my thermal analysis will need to be redone. I sent the correct geometry to Keith W. 
     - Halo monitor – A new CRADA was sent to Radiabeam for signatures.
     - ARDDOT –Completed the initial mechanical design of a new SLM for 1A09. This design will be loaded into ZEMAX for 
       verification of the correct optical design.   
     - HPWS -A NCE contract was sent to Radiabeam for signatures that will move the end date of the CRADA to September 30th due to
       the CODVID-19 telework. 
   Next two weeks (Mar 30 - Apr 10)
     - ARDDOT –Verify the optics of the new SLM1A09 mechanical design using a non-sequential Zemax model. 
     - Isotope Experiment -Use the corrected geometry FLUKA results of the absorbed power as well as a new raft side plate design 
       to create several thermal analysis of the gallium filled graphite crucible. Work with Kevin J. on a the extended side plate
       design.

Andrew Hutton

   Previous two weeks (Mar 30 - Apr 10)
     - A lot of thinking about EIC including a detailed evaluation of the pCDR luminosity optimization (presented at the JLab EIC
       meeting).  I also continued on my quest to understand coupling.  I took part in the RF frequency discussions; I would be happy if
       the choice was 400 MHz, but not 394 MHz.  Haven’t we learned anything about the advantages of standardization?  
     - We have made a lot of progress on evaluating the isotope experiment and future design (Joe Gubeli and Keith Welch).  I need to get
       my act together to collate it all.  I had a video conference on PERLE and wrote a brief report to Andrei, Mike and Todd. I
       contacted the Chair of the VCU Mechanical Engineering Department who put us in touch with Hooman Tafreshi, their heat transfer
       expert. The discussion was not that useful directly, but it did serve as a catalyst for us to start thinking about the problem of
       the 50 kW crucible.  
     - I took Ethics Training because I am on VNECA, which officially advises the Virginia Governor, so every two years I have to listen
       to a one hour ethics lesson! 
   Next two weeks (Apr 13 - Apr 24)
     - Continued working on coupling and wrote a presentation to get everything in one place. Dave Douglas was very helpful. I will
       continuing this and involve others when it seems reasonable.  
     - For the isotopes, we had a brainstorming session on the design of a 50 kW target. Some good ideas, but video doesn’t work as well
       for brainstorming.  I had Dave Meekins on the line, but was not aware of that since you can’t share the screen and see the
       participants.  
     - Isotope Quarterly Report due on Friday, April 24.
