Max Bruker

  Previous (May 11 - May 22)
     - IPAC
     -	Did tracking simulations of IMP storage ring dynamics with bunched cooling beam space charge to find out the reason for the particle loss. A simple longitudinal model shows
considerable heating when bunch length jitter is introduced, but it does not show instability. Full optics tracking in 6-d including a 3-d calculation of the electric field
shows a random beating of the transverse action, which results in a particle loss rate comparable with the experimental result.
     -	Communication with IMP folks on potential additions to the manuscript.
  Next (May 25 - Jun 5)
     - Finalize additions and reach consensus on the full contents of the article.
     -	I'd like to understand the underlying cause of the particle loss on a conceptual level. This investigation, albeit very interesting and necessary, is unlikely to make it into the
current publication because of time constraints. Depending on the ultimate quality of the results, we may consider writing something up at a later time.
