       - '''ERL: '''we had the first meeting of the EL sub-Panel devoted to discussing the ERLC.  Akira had prepared a 30 slide presentation with cost and power calculations, which we are now looking at offline.  Progress will be slow in August due to vacations, but will resume full swing in September.  We have been accorded a delay for delivering the conclusion until the end of SeptemberIn the meantime, I will be writing up our conclusions for the CERC. The ERL Panel has not yet resumed looking at the actual roadmap, but will start soon.  I know what I think it should be; now I have to persuade my more timid colleagues!

       - '''PERLE ICRADA: '''after about a year, the documents have been returned by the French side and are now with DOE.  I do have a concern that with the recent losses in the SRF R&D Department, we may have problems fulfilling our intended scopeThis will come up in earnest when the DOE signs the ICRADA.
NMT will lead a proposal to study Scandium47 with irradiations at the Idaho Accelerator CenterWe would probably be involved in targeted - still being worked out.  The end of project write up for

our current isotope funding is due July 30, I haven’t yet started to put it together.

Amy Sy

Previous two weeks (July 5 - July 16)
     - Laser particle counter: Continued data analysis of 6-channel data with 1-2 Hz wire sweeping rate. Vendor visit on July 6 focused on observation of different operating modes and implications on event
identification both pre and post data analysis. Currently seeing 3-4 operating modes in which events are often seen in one of the two available signals per channel, and trying to understand why channels
switch between operating modes as the system settles. Vendor returned on July 14 with updated software allowing for higher data resolution in both signals (shared bandwidth between the two signals) and
an updated algorithm for offline analysis of the signals that relies on calculating and subtracting a noise spectrum from the raw data.
     - Discussion with M. Poelker on studies of gas bremsstrahlung in the CEBAF linacs, possibility of detection using radiation monitors, and mitigation efforts including ion clearing gaps. Literature study
on gas bremsstrahlung in electron storage rings and ion clearing methods at Cornell. Discussion with M. Poelker and J. Grames on July 12.
Next two weeks (July 19 - July 30)
     - Literature study on gas bremsstrahlung in electron storage rings and ion clearing methods. Working with J. Grames and M. Poelker to continue studies of gas bremsstrahlung in the CEBAF linacs.
     - Laser particle counter: Continued system debugging, optimization, and data analysis to better understand operational modes. Swapped the sensors driving channels 0 and 2 to test whether the noise in
channel 0 is fiber driven or sensor driven. Vendor will return July 27-28 with remaining 18 sensors for full 24 channel capability. The additional sensors should have better signal to noise response
       than the initial 6 channels.

last meeting on the CERC as well as the first meeting where Telnov presented the ERLC. I foresee another frenetic round of interactions between the sub-Panel members who are incredibly active - I
regularly have a dozen emails early in the morning as the others get up before me! I contacted Wim Leemans, now at DESY, to try and talk him into participating in PERLE. No follow up from DESY yet.
With the loss of Frank Marhauser and all the EIC work, I do not see Jefferson Lab having a big involvement in the SRF for PERLE, so maybe we can work with DESY to participate in the SRF. Hopefully,
Alex will be able to continue leading the optics studies.
Next two weeks (Aug 2 - Aug 13)
     - Isotopes and Loida: while on vacation, I realized that Loida’s program could be easily modified to carry out the same search for new isotope pathways for all of the possible projectiles: neutrons, protons, deuterons and alpha particles. This should enable us to identify possible new pathways for most, if not all of the isotopes on the DOE-ONP Isotope Program “Most Wanted” list. For this, I will need Loida to modify her program and run it for different input conditions. I have arranged with Balśa to pay her for four hours a week through Christmas to do this, in addition to paying her time while she is at AccApp’ 2021 presenting the results. My part will be to provide a written paper based on the results - the intention is to submit it to a refereed journal.
     - ERL: we had the first meeting of the EL sub-Panel devoted to discussing the ERLC. Akira had prepared a 30 slide presentation with cost and power calculations, which we are now looking at offline. Progress will be slow in August due to vacations, but will resume full swing in September. We have been accorded a delay for delivering the conclusion until the end of September. In the meantime, I will be writing up our conclusions for the CERC. The ERL Panel has not yet resumed looking at the actual roadmap, but will start soon. I know what I think it should be; now I have to persuade my more timid colleagues!
     - PERLE ICRADA: after about a year, the documents have been returned by the French side and are now with DOE. I do have a concern that with the recent losses in the SRF R&D Department, we may have problems fulfilling our intended scope. This will come up in earnest when the DOE signs the ICRADA.
