Updates
- The electrode front end pieces 16-30 deg and 16-60 deg, two pieces each manufactured from 316 VAR SS have been polished in the SRF tumbler, UHV cleaned in the Chem room, and are being vacuum degassed in the vacuum furnace room. They will be ready for assembly this Thursday.
- The electrode has been removed from the high voltage chamber, and Moly puck with GaAs bulk wafer engagement checked. Compared to the spare Tee electrode small shield (R28-4), the puck engagement feels and sounds weaker. The puck retainer roller spring push the puck against the back of the Pierce electrode piece. :R30-gun laser retro-reflection checks in LERF clean room performed April 12 2024
- The electrode has been disassembled. One puck retainer roller spring was found to be bent slightly outwards near the sapphire roller, one other retainer was found to be bent also slightly outwards near its base, and only one retainer was found to be straight.
- Puck engagement was tested on R28-4 and found to set the puck more firmly than the R30-3 assembly. The puck retainer roller springs are straight, and were removed to replace those in R30-3. These will bee mounted and tested today.
