Our Mission: To develop and maintain high performance particle beam sources for injectors and accelerators. Our core responsibility is operation of the polarized electron source for the 12 GeV Continuous Electron Beam Accelerator Facility (CEBAF). Additionally, we operate sources and injectors for the 170 MeV Low Energy Research Facility (LERF), then 10 MeV Upgrade Injector Test Facility (UITF), and the 500 keV Gun Test Stand (GTS). Our research interests aim at the production of spin polarized electrons and positron beams, magnetized beams and beams with orbital angular momentum. Our work specializes in extreme high vacuum, very high voltage, high power radio-frequency lasers, robust and efficient photocathodes, and precision polarimetry.
