For the Mott polarimeter we are making a real top-down assessment with improvements where objective is a test of the polarimeter precision. To do this we are addressing various areas:
- improvements and measurements of targets and collimator acceptance
- reduction of backgrounds through lower-Z materials and TOF laser pulse selection
- fully new Geant4 model of polarimeter geometry, including polarization processes
- theory estimates on Sherman function, dominant systematic uncertainty
- higher beam power mode of operation for systematic studies
- modern parity-style FADC based DAQ for beam instrumentation and detector collection
- new HVPS control system
- improvement of signal:noise
