Week 5 (Oct 19 - Oct 23) Prep for Gun to Y Vacuum Installation

Non-Tunnel Work
  • Build new Y-chamber viewer => Y-built w/test screen, Laser being builty.
  • Use test screen + laser + S&A to verify position of first viewer => This week
  • Install + align + vacuum seal (2) viewers => target this week
  • Caryn will confirm but identified best ‘mushroom’ window, attach => done
  • ME provide ALL points to S&A for installation (gun table, 2I stand, Y-chamber, 2 peds for Wien, 2 peds A1/A2) => ???
  • Carlos' Wien-mania!
-Machine shop finishes cutting lug on second Wien vacuum chamber
-Bubba assembles the fixtures
-Mike Beck fits coils to steel, and then fit test of magnet assembly to Wien vacuum chamber. If satisfactory, magnet assembly is then removed to transfer vacuum chambers to new fixtures.
-Carlos gives Riad and Jay Benesh heads up for next week to check out Wien magnet assemblies prior to magnetic field mapping
-Towards the end of the week, Carlos / Bubba mount vacuum chambers to new fixtures and install nickel end plates, if possible do this in Magnet Test Facility.

Week 6 (Oct 26 - Oct 30) Remove old Y+NEG & Move GUn2 new location

Non-Tunnel Work
  • Install NEG towers (probably week of Oct 19)
  • Attach new Gun2 or Gun3 valve (see below)
  • Prep new Y-chamber for tunnel, can be under vacuum
  • Wien-mania!
-Wien magnetic field mapping.
Tunnel work
  • Vent Gun3 chamber to test Gun3 valve
  • Vent Gun2 chamber to test Gun2 valve
Remove NEG filter chamber before vent
Install cleanroom for gun work (can we borrow a LCLS one?)
  • Remove 2I NEG beam line
  • IF needed, CIS remove NEG pedestal (temporarily)
  • Replace 10” flange + SHV connector + blank off + pump down
  • Pump down Blank off old Y-chamber + pinch off + removal
  • INSTALL lift and move gun table to move foot pads
  • S&A sets points
  • INSTALL sets new foot pads, new anchor bolts if needed
  • INSTALL lift and move gun table to new foot pads
  • INSTALL move new y-chamber from TL-1137 to injector, and vice versa


Week 7 (Nov 2 - Oct 6) Install new Y + NEG tube

Tunnel work

  • S&A and CIS install and align Y-chamber + NEG tube + Gun table (CL cathode/anode)
  • Pump down and leak check
  • Check laser align/retro : back fill N2 + test retro from GaAs + test alignment to viewer
  • Iterate as needed
  • End week with laser + Y + Gun + NEG aligned (pre-bake)
  • Prep for new suitcase (i.e. prep work to safe photocathodes during eventual gun bake)

Fire System Work

Description of Task: Replacement of tunnel sprinkler piping, fire alarm control panels in B85 & B98, replacement of detection devices.

Latest construction schedule has contractor in Injector between 11/24/20 and 1/4/21.
