  • We are considering lowering the electrode-insulator assembly into the gun HV chamber as the last step, but in the SRF production clean room, instead of in the tunnel or in the UITF as is is typically done. The motivation is to minimize particulates on the electrode for minimizing field emission during high voltage processing. This is expected to reduce the high voltage conditioning time and the risk of high voltage cable arcing by reducing the maximum voltage needed to process field emitters.
