Goals
The purpose of this weekly meeting is to discuss plant operations and group projects with the cryogenics group managers and supervisors. During this meeting we will discuss ongoing and future projects, priorities, manpower, schedules, expenditures, and problems.
Agenda and Notes
1. Safety
We had an incident where an individual was working in the SBR compressor room and tripped over installed piping and injured his leg. His injury required stitches and is a recordable event.
2. Schedule
Near term schedule Media:img_3327.jpg
3. Operations (A brief description of the highlights for the past week at CHL's, ESR, HDR, CTF)
CTF is operating. Team is working on reassembling the K2.
ESR normal.
CHL1 at 4K
CHL2 is off to support C6 work.
CHL Recovery: Purifier 5 carbon has been replaced. pump and backfills on-going. After purifier 5 is online and operating acceptably, carbon will be replaced in bed #4.
HDR Normal
4. JLAB Internal Group Projects
CHL1 SC1 CC5
Final utubes for disconnecting SC1 are to be done Wed and Thur.
Air Liquide is expecting to have technician here on site first or second week of May.
Decisions need to be made regarding the flanging/sealing of the CC.
UIM (Wijeratne, Wright, Creel)
Calendar
The shutdown is scheduled from 17 Feb - 9 Apr (Dewar Full). We are in clean up mode anticipating restart around Thursday.. Anticipate problems with the controls during the cooldown.
GPP (Yang, Wright)
Kinney Pump Relocation
- - Detailed design of Kinney suction and discharge piping system was completed.
- - The material for Kinney suction has been received. The material for Kinney discharge has ordered.
- - Started the detailed design package of the cooling water system.
- - The actual design hours have been over the budget. This is mainly because:
1. The modification of the existing Coalescers piping system was not initially budgeted. 2. More efforts were put on the design in order to meet the clearness requirement of the control panel. 3. The girder and other components near the piping system had to be modeled after interference between the piping and structure components were found. 4. The design of the piping support was much more than originally estimated.
Gas Management System
- - 35% concept planning has been completed.
- - The 3D model was done based on the concept design.
- - All pneumatic control valves have been ordered.
CHL2 C6 (Perry, Creel)
C6 installation work has started. Mechanics are working now. Electrical should finish by the end of the week. We are expecting about 4 more weeks of work to complete installation then commissioning will start.
JLAB Guard Vac (Schleeper, Radovic)
-Legs are being cut and prepped for anchor/grout. DONE! -Taps need to be added to the pump suction. (fab) IP -remove/route the conduit (Electrical) -remove railing (ops) -Instrument Air line (fab) -final assembly of pump/filters (ops) -controls (electrical)
CHL LN2 Dewar Fill Transfer line (Schleeper)
-process improvements being tested -vacuum needs to be pumped -relief valve needs to be replaced/ordered (will set up a meeting)
JLAB 3rd Recovery Compressor (Saringer)
The skid is complete. We are purchasing a pneumatic actuator to install on one of the existing compressor suction valves to see if it prevents oil migration problems.
JLAB recovery header rework (Saringer, Wright)
Job is being re-planned to shrink the required down time and cost.
JLAB Vaporizer (Perry, Wright)
We have most of the parts. The installation is on hold. It might be used as a filler job if things ever get light. Robert will check if there is any instrumentation and controls associated.
CHL to FEL Utubes (Perry, Corey)
If a designer becomes available they will be placed on this project. It is currently in Craig's queue.
CHL LN2 Fill Relief Replacement (Schleeper, Thompson) Replacing existing relief valve. Evaluate fill process to prevent lifting the relief.
CHL LN2 Dewar Instrumentation Replacement (Schleeper, Thompson) causing errors in the pressure gauge on fill station.
CHL LN2 Pressure Building Coil leaks (Schleeper, Thompson, Hunewill)
ESR Carbon Replacement (Schleeper, Butler)
ESR Oil Containment (Schleeper, Thompson), working. Paused to support C6 work.
CHL1 Regeneration Skid Removal (Schleeper, Thompson)
5. JLAB External Group Projects
Hall B 12GeV (Thompson)
We have been tasked with fabricating flex lines for the solenoid can. It will take approximately 4 months. (Jay). Roland is continuing to work with Ruben on solenoid can instrumentation as needed.
Solenoid is expected 12 May ????.
UITF (Perry, Radovic)
Thermosiphon and utubes are being fabricated. The electrical controls work will start after the UIM CTF & C6 are finished.
CHL2 Main Compressor Oil Level Alarms (Saringer, Wright)
We are having trouble managing compressor oil levels especially when there are large ambient temperature changes. We need to work on a solution. Drawings are done but waiting for approval.
NL cooldown header re-connection (Schleeper, Wright)
There is some concern that moisture may still exist within the cool down piping in the north linac. The goal is to have a hygrometer added to the recovery system so that when a purge flow is added, moisture can be monitored. After the cool down piping has been purged (duration TBD), we will re-connect the cool down line at the conflats. Delayed due to purifier issues.
SRF is planning to replace cold windows on 15 modules
Ongoing.
6. JLAB External Projects
MSU (Dixon)
Robert is still working 2K controls.
LCLS2 (Dixon)
We are building two recovery compressors. Due in July 17'. (Issac) We are building a guard vac skid for LCLS2. Not started. Due end of October 17'(Issac). We might also fabricate a water skid. FDR for 2K cold box Mar 9.
LCLS2 is indicating we could pick and choose a host of items we could build for them such as 230 bayonets in approximately 6-7 months.
Repair of EV245RT Coming up with preliminary design for applying force without an EV.
Inspection of Relief Devices per Pressure System's Requirement: Started CTF and CHL2.
