Agenda and Notes

1. Operations

LINAC

Made the 4K transition yesterday.

CHL1

Suffered an apparent cold compressor #5. We are investigating. We have contacted Air Liquide. We are working a plan toward opening the SC1 vacuum space. We have learned what we can from the mag bearing cabinets in their present setup. Today we are moving to connect MB#5 to CC#4 so we can complete the evaluation of the MB#5 cabinet. The cables for MB#5 are short and we are having to spend time pulling the cables out of the tray and rearranging them to get the extra length to allow us to make the connections.

CHL2

Made the 4K transition yesterday. We have removed the replacing of the SC2 feed thrus from the summer work plan to reduce risk since we have picked up the extra SC1 work.

ESR

Hall C continues to have high SHMS back pressure is because of the flexible anaconda. We are planning a load test.

CTF

The CTF shutdown is underway. The mechanical work is complete. They are working on leak checks, pressure tests, and continuing with the control system conversion. Two leaks have been identified and are being repaired.

HDR

Normal.

2. Projects

UIM

The CTF shutdown is underway. The mechanical work is complete. They are working on leak checks, pressure tests, and continuing with the control system conversion.

UITF

Thermosiphon is being fabricated. There is a significant amount of controls work left to be done before this system can be made operational.

MSU

Working to accumulate the pressure systems documentation. Meeting with Fabio. Mark Stapleton might make a trip to MSU at some point to teach their technicians. Phone call with Fabio to determine the end game exit strategy.

LCLS2

2K review is today. Recovery compressors will be finished sometime in July. We are working with SRF to determine a plan to install an LCLS2 module in LERF.

3. Manpower

Ritendra is working on LCLS2. Duties need more definition. He is currently helping them catch up on controls tasks. There will be a 75% review of the installation package by Smith Group on 28 March.

4. Info from Will

1. New director starts Apr 3. Old Director seems way to happy lately.

2.

They have pushed the ESR2 money to at least 18'. A line item was added in the future project file for a new 2K cold box.

5. Other

Action Items

1. There was an incident in the TestLab clean room where a worker knowingly left out support parts from the LCLS2 assembly that led to a failure of an internal bellows. This will cause a delay of several weeks.

2. The Hall B solenoid suffered a failure of two support struts apparently because they were cut and welded instead of being one piece as the spec called out for. This will lead to 1-2 month delay in the solenoid arriving at JLAB.

3. 2L17 has a suspected vacuum leak. They used words like all eight tuners are frozen.

4. A gate was left unlocked in the Hall C dump. It was an accelerator safety envelope violation that is being corrected by changes in procedures. They will give up their keys to be controlled by the MCC.
