The original location of the new Kinney pump suction isolation valves was just on the upstream of the blower so that they can be easily maintained / operated without using ladders or platforms. However, after re-evaluating the system, we decided to relocated the valves to the vertical section of the pipe which is about 7ft from ground level for the following reasons:
- 1. The piping system is more flexible for future pump system upgrade.
- 2. Easier for fabrication and require less down-time of the Kinney #2 when working on the tie-in of Kinney #1.
- 3. Reduce the vibration on the isolation valve from the Kinney Pump Skid.
- 4. Increase the volume of space between the Kinney pump and the valve giving a "buffer" for running the Kinney Pump while the valve is opening.
The following items were discussed during this meeting:
- 1. The manual isolation valves on cooling water line need to be lowered so that they can be operated without a ladder.
- 2. A lifting pan is needed for removing the actuator on the Kinney pump suction valve.
- 3. There needs to be a plan for the installation process to keep the piping clean / reduce clean-up time.
- 4. Relief on the Kinney Pump coalescer needs to be modified for easier maintenance.
- 5. Discharge pressure of the Kinney pump needs to be understood - Per P&I 72800-0012 / 0013, the set-up pressure is 1.8 ATM downstream of the ring pump.
- 6. The piping design is based on that there are four panels with the same size of existing ones on the south wall. Mat confirmed it with Robert on this meeting.
Action Items:
- 1. Shirley needs to check with Mark Stapleton and Bill Hunewill if the 14" flange on the blower spool piece needs to be kept. - The 14" flange needs to be kept per Mark Stapleton for pump maintenance purpose.
- 2. Shirley is going to check with Mark Stapleton about the requirement for removing the Kinney suction valve actuator. - The actuator needs to be supported. It can be used for removing the actuator.
- 3. Shirley is going to study the coalescer internal structure to see if there would be risky when the coalescer #1 is to be turned over on its side for relocation.
- 4. Thilan is going to help Paul to add an oil line from the bottom of the coalescer to the Kinney pump skid.
- 5. Thilan and Shirley is going to develop a plan to keep the installation process piping clean and reduce the clean-up time.
- 6. Mat and Thilan need to determine if the Kinney discharge valve needs to be upstream or downstream of the coalescer. - The isolation valve still be downstream of the coalescer but needs to be lowered for easy
access.
