Agenda and Notes

1. ESR Capacity

ESR is a variable capacity machine producing 4.5K and 15K temperatures and some liquefaction capability.

The two endpoints of capacity are approximately (1,500W at 4.5K and 0W 15K) or (800W at 4.5K and 1,200W at 15K).

Each 1 g/s of lead flow (liquefaction) costs 100W at 4.5K of refrigeration and increases LN2 usage by 3 g/s (~3 gallons/hour).

The addition of the CHL-ESR transferline adds up to 20 g/s at 4.5K with increased electrical power and LN2 costs at CHL.

2. ESR Reliability

Operating ESR at higher capacities will effect availability.

3. FY17 12GeV Needs

Hall C

Q2 cooldown November 16'

Dipole cooldown in February 17'

Q3 cooldown December 16 - January 17

Hall B

Torus stays online

Solenoid cooldown May-July 17'

4. Hall Non-12GeV Needs

Hall A Left and right arm magnets are cold.

Target 15K cooldown in October 16'

5. Cryo Needs

Cryo needs to know the prioritized order of how the loads are to be brought back online following problems at the ESR.

The Hall's need to warm up (or not cool) any loads not required for the Physics program. This will reduce the strain on ESR, it will increase availability, it will increase the capacity availble to recover loads after any ESR problems, and it will reduce power and LN2 costs.

Cryo is working on ERS maintenance plans for summer 17' The plant has been running for approximately 2.5 years since the last shutdown.

Action Items

Attendees will notify cryo of any changes to the plan or changes to the operating conditions including any new tests.

Schleeper will get the latest load estimates fpr tje Hall magnets.

Brendza will send Creel the latest Hall C installation schedule.

Future meetings will be held as required.
