02/07/2017 Meeting
DRAFT FOR UPCOMING MEETING
RULES: No arguing. Everyone will be heard.
Attendance
Thompson, Creel, Wright, Laverdure, Butler, Radovic, Wijernatne, Norton, Saringer, Schleeper, Yang
Goals
The purpose of this weekly meeting is to discuss plant operations and group projects with the cryogenics group managers and supervisors. During this meeting we will discuss ongoing and future projects, priorities, manpower, schedules, expenditures, and problems.
Agenda and Notes
1. Schedule
1. Operations (A breif description of the highlights for the past week at CHL's, ESR, HDR, CTF)
2. JLAB Internal Group Projects
UIM (Creel, Wijeratne)
The shutdown is scheduled from 17 Feb - 9 Apr (Dewar Full). A job briefing is being planned for this week. A presentation for the P&C Group underlined the importance of not reassigning people once the down has started.
GPP (Yang)
Designers are working on the drawings for moving the Kinney pumps. Shirley has approved the current conceptual design for the suction piping. Designer is also working on the cooling water header designs. The drawings are finished for the small warm gas tie ins that we will try to install during the Feb shutdown. Paul is working on the detailed drawings. Some are ready for review. Valves have been ordered for Kinney suction lines.
CHL2 C6 (Perry, Creel)
Its looking probable the accelerator will shutdown 22 March. If it does the C6 work will move up if not the shutdown is planned for first week in May. A fab crew is building the piping spools. for helium, water, and oil (Willy). The electrical supplies including 4160v wire, 120v/480v conduit and wire were ordered and should be on site. The on-skid conduits and wire can be installed as well as the 4160V run from the motor to the starter. The 120V and 480V home runs cannot be installed before the shutdown because the panels are energize. We are getting a price from Paul Powers for the FM contract electricians to perform this work. Perry is working up a plan for the CHL2 shutdown.
JLAB Guard Vac (Scheelper, Creel)
The guard vac skid is mechanically installed. The electrical power and controls need to be finished. There is one more box to install and conduit and wire to be installed. We have requested the FM electricians perform this work.
JLAB 3rd Recovery Compressor (Saringer, Creel)
On hold. The skid is mechanically finished. The skid is electrically 50% finished and Beizer is working on the electrical now and should be done this week. There is no funding or plan to install the machine yet. We need to verify the installation of the check valve on this compressor.
JLAB recovery header rework (Saringer)
Job is being re-planned to shrink the required down time and cost.
JLAB Vaporizer (Perry)
We have most of the parts. The installation is on hold. It might be used as a filler job if things ever get light.
ESR Hall A 15K utube (Schleeper)
A new utube is being fabricated with a manual valve to replace the existing utube because it has a leak. Drawings are released but have not been delivered to Scott to see and order parts. Work needs to be scheduled.
CHL to FEL Utubes (Corey)
If a designer becomes available they will be placed on this project. It is currently in Craig's queue.
3. JLAB External Group Projects
Hall B 12GeV (Thompson)
We have been tasked with fabricating flex lines for the solenoid can. It will take approximately 4 months. (Jay). Roland is continuing to work with Ruben on solenoid can instrumentation as needed. Torus was recooled and is ready for KPP run.
UITF (Perry, Creel)
Pressure tests completed. Vacuum, leaks sealed. CM should be in place in 2 weeks to allow the final utube measurements to be taken. Then it will take about 4-5 weeks to build the utubes. We have the parts.(Roy) The thermosiphon can fabrication and installation is expected to take about 2 months to build and install. Likely to be Dano's crew once they complete UIM. HDIce return line is a fill work. Its low priority. Fab is working on the thermosiphon. The height of the can is sufficient. LN2 supply line is being worked right now. Drawings are in checking for the vessel. Control system has a couple of weeks of work left to do as soon as a tech becomes available.
4. JLAB External Projects
MSU (Dixon)
We are working to accumulate the pressure systems documentation. We are looking for an in-house designer to replace the contractor Michael. The scope of the work is not clear. Cory and Kelly are coordinating what additional work might move to MSU from JLAB.
LCLS2 (Dixon)
All but 2 bayonets were shipped. The remaining 2 had to wait for the original valve we spec'ed to arrive. The SLAC group overrode our valve selection at design time and opted for a cheaper valve that does not meet pressure requirements. We are building two recovery compressors. Due in July 17'. These will take more hours than estimated because of seismic modifications. (Issac) We are building a guard vac skid for LCLS2. Not started. Due end of October 17'(Issac)SLAC operations is interested in drafting a long term support agreement for after the machine is running. (??) Cold compressor FDR was completed last week (results unknown). PHPK is continuing to fabricate the first set of warm compressors. There are concerns about information ownership if we send the fundamental skid drawings that could then be modified. The compressor design is actually joint owned by JLAB and NASA and was used at MSU and LCLS2.
5. Summer Maintenance Work Plan (Wright, Creel)
Need to finalize our summer work plan. What are we planning to do, do we need to buy parts, and who is doing the work.
Jobs we are considering for the summer are as follows in no particular order
GPP CTF gas management skid and Kinney piping move
CHL1 vaporizer cold piping
CHL1 regen skid disconnect
Spare utubes for c50 and c100
ESR 15K utube
CHL/FEL shield utube
Action Items
1. Jonathan, Mat, and Thilan will complete the modifications to the CTF CB3 installation plan and try to get an answer on the Feb 17 shutdown.
2. Add other group engineers to this meeting.
3. Complete summer maintenance list
Action Item Updates
1.
2. Perform EI&C maintenance on CHL2 while it is down for 6 weeks this summer.
3. Perform EI&C maintenance on CHL1 while it is down for several months this summer.
