CPS MAGNET/ABSORBER CONCEPTUAL ENGINEERING DESIGN (Steven)
- Stability and controls of magnet power supply: 0.1% (100 ppm)
- Action item: check for existing power supply
- Magnet weight: 5 tons (without shielding)
- Coils - no spare needed - anticipate no accessibility to magnet during experiment
- Design for possible water leaks in copper absorber - main goal is to minimize the risk for any leaks
- Discussion procurement tungsten copper
- Action item: 90:10 or 80:20 - get quotes, check machining capabilities (Bogdan)
- Aim for sending out by end of May
- Lead blocks - at JLab in lead storage area
- 20 tons
- Action item: Schedule with Walter to look at some samples for surface quality etc. (Josh)
TCS UPDATES (Vardan)
- Good progress on beam background (rates look manageable)
- Know rates, so know what technology for GEM --> pixel based, can handle rates, but need certain threshold
- Still need to evaluate physics background (exclusivity)
- Action items:
- Progress and status - key plots
- Compare PAC comments - in proposal needs to be addressed line by line
- Proposal draft - originally first draft was requested by May 1
- PAC proposal submission deadline: 24 May
NEXT MEETING: FRIDAY MAY 14 AT 8AM ET
