Latest revision as of 09:09, 19 June 2023
Participants: Cristiano, Sasha, Carlos, Larry, Carlos Y., Tanja, Hamlet, Julien, Renee, Hrachya, Julie, Artur, Rosi, Joerg, Olivier (Crytur-USA), Ioana, Vardan, Yeran, Dmitry
SIPM SPECS DISCUSSION (All)
- EIC Project requests SiPM specs table for EEEMCAL: Official spreadsheet at this link
- Voltage is important if light is not mixed up well - for crystals the light is mixed well and uniform and not much sensitivity is expected
- Variation of operating voltage of tray
- Current design has an array of 3x3 or 4x4 SiPMs in a matrix with one output per matrix
- May need to comment on sensitivity to gain variations between individual SiPMs - check JLab studies
- When listing specs keep in mind the variations - tolerances
- Efficiency cannot be changed by changing operating voltage
- SiPM review is expected for July 2023
- Action Item: collect all documentation on tests carried out at IJCLab-Orsay and JLab and check table entries
ENGINEERING UPDATES (Julien)
- One of main focus areas is clearances with other infrastructure, e.g., the beam pipe and the DIRC frame - discussions are ongoing between EEEMCAL representatives (Julien, Jim, Josh) and the EIC Project technical team
- One the integration/installation side of the EEEMCAL into the DIRC frame the rails option is being studied in details
- assembly depends on positioning of the rails
- Overall, need assembly space at BNL for the EEEMCAL
- Discussion about space for cables and stress on cables in the assembly
- general idea is to use stretchers, but more studies are planned
EEEMCAL ORGANIZATION (Tanja, Carlos)
- Request from EPIC to provide a first draft of work packages and organizational structure
- Discussion of two slides put together using existing material and adding in international institutions
- Action items:
- Update the chart directly so it looks nicer (Julie)
- Update the numbers on page 2
ELECTRONICS READOUT (Olivier)
- Collaboration of Czech/US governments
- Aim would be at next generation of prototypes with 6mm x 6mm SiPMs and larger array, e.g., 5x5
- Proposals are due on 19 July and funding starts in early 2024
- Next: need a letter of intent
- Scope of work
- Crytur: electronics, build prototype
- BNL/JLAB: receive prototype, evaluate - possibly with beam, tests
- Action item: follow up on this with EIC management
PERFORMANCE SPECS
- Crystal specs - have been transmitted. Review will be beginning of July
- Dedicated meeting on constant term is being planned - calibration, monitoring etc.
NEXT MEETING: FRIDAY 23 JUNE AT 8AM ET
