DESIGN MODELS, STRESS/THERMAL CALCULATIONS

  • Validated magnet parameter in TOSCA models - all looks good
  • latest model has the slightly increased length
  • Detailed investigation of longitudinal cuts for thermal expansion
  • Bottom will be flat,
  • Temperature change per cooling circuit
  • Temperature rise ~20 degC over short distance
  • speed of water needs to be optimized
  • Hall C unregulated pressure differential between supply and return ~80-100 psi
  • Adding more resistance to cooling path
  • Plan to make a prototype - can be done with a vendor

TCS UPDATES

  • Unpolarized TCS of proton and neutron
  • number of reconstructed events difference factor ~6 more protons than neutrons - depends on FF since interaction through BH - but rates sufficient overall
  • need to work out a strategy to detect neutrons
  • Initial studies of pion background
