PAC45 RECAP

  • Committee saw one technical (CPS) and two science presentations (polarized WACS and KLong)- results were distributed by email
  • Report will be available and posted shortly
  • Next steps: continue working group meetings on CPS to optimize design, e.g. shielding

MAGNET ASSEMBLY AND TESTING

  • Discussion about W. Akers drawing of magnet and detector frame in test lab and availability of cooling water and electrical services
  • one good option for power supply for NPS magnet is that from HKS
  • some re-arrangement of the designated area may be needed to make the required field mapping measurements - most efficient may be to attach the mapper to the magnet, at most will map 3x distance away from magnet gap
  • Update on magnet components:
  • Corrector coil is at JLab
  • Main coil expected end of August
  • Yoke expected end of August
  • Next steps:
  • Provide W. Akers with a drawing/picture of the power supply to be used
  • Design of mapper - Charles will provide the required specifics of the mapper along the beam line

NPS FRAME

  • Discussion about curing system design - IPNO will test different LEDs to which one most suitable for curing and do not damage the PMTs
  • Note that DVCS found that PMTs are affected (gain changes) by blue light curing even with HV offf
  • Discussion about flexibility of installation of curing system since PMTs are not removable
  • Middle August will optimize frame design (interference and symmetric part) with designer

Next steps:

  • Send a few PMTs to IPNO for curing system testing

NPS HV BASES AND PMTS

  • 35 PMTs are on order from OU, 50 PMTs have arrived at JLab

CRYSTALS

  • Discussion about ongoing chemical analysis at CUA
  • 100 crystals expected to arrive at JLab end of month
  • Discussion about assembly once all components available - make a plan for that
  • Next steps:
  • writing documentation of crystals tests and also including responsibilities and work flow
