BEAM TESTS
- Discussion of request from Sasha:
- What articles/modules have we built or are planing to build, and a brief description of the goal(s) achieved or to be achieved?
- Prototype (R&D stage): did we have this? - or N/A?
- Engineering test article (PED stage): N/A?
- Full chain test module: I guess this may be engineering test article plus photosensor, FEE - probably this is what we are preparing for the test beam this year?
- First article (pre-production stage): it could include carbon fiber frame, some elements of cooling etc.
- Production test module: the same as above?
- What test beams planned before construction, time line, goals.
- To address Sasha's request follow the NSF proposal
- Full chain beam tests envisioned to take place at JLab (and perhaps DESY)
- Efforts are consortium supported - team members primarily use their own research grants to carry out these tests
- Parts will be delivered to JLab and assembled there for prototype tests by team members for chain testing
- Action item: provide the information to Sasha (Tanja)
DAQ-ELECTRONICS CONTACTS
- Request from Fernando for information on contacts for adapter boards, FEB, RDO, etc.
- We need your help with some specifications for the Electronics & DAQ, which will help the ASIC designers and SRO and further developments. Please enter the requested information for Qmin, Qmax and Expression of Interest for the various electronics & DAQ developments under each detector sub-system. The Expression of Interest will let us know if you have already identified resources (scientists, engineers, technicians) to address the design and implementation of the various parts of the readout (Adapters, FEBs, etc.)
- Currently, the spreadsheet collecting this information contains data on the discrete option that Gerard entered
- For consistency with the NSF proposal we will add as main contact: Justin; contacts for discrete option: Gerard and for ASIC option: Carlos.
- Action item: add the needed information in the spreadsheet (Tanja)
UPDATES FROM CALORIMETER MEETING
- Carlos presented an overview outline of the EEEMCAL TDR section
- A question was raised regarding the choice of SiPM - it was pointed out that the choice was already made at the final design review in september 2023
- Note on Final design review: there locked in the specifications, but not yet the vendor. Note that if want to change the specifications then need to go through the change control board process, a well defined approach
- Cooling: keep crystals at room temperature
- Provisions for servicing readout of calorimeter
- based on NPS experience the boards can have components that are very sensitive to radiation
- plan is to not glue the SiPMs to the crystals, so should be servicable
- AANL planning irradiation tests of board components with hadron radiation
- Action item: continue with SiPM selection - timeframe: need to complete by September 2024
REQUEST FROM SRO GROUP
- Provide information on data/services needed for calibration of the detector - separated into cosmics, LED/gain, beam calibrations (pi0, elastic, etc.)
- Action item: make a first draft of the calibration information (Carlos)
UPDATE FROM SIPM READOUT MEETING
- See notes from Justin here
NEXT MEETING: FRIDAY 22 MARCH 2024 AT 8AM ET
