MAGNET (Bogdan)
- Yoke assembly is essentially complete, next will be the coil.
- Tests can start when coil is assembled
HV BASES (Julie)
- Assembly and testing is ongoing. 25% of the total bases have been assembled and are being tested. So far only one assembly was observed to spark - after a few days. Discussion about testing time dependence of performance.
- Some of the bases were sent to IPNO for prototype tests
- Discussion about single component testing of PMTs, e.g. by JMU
CRYSTALS AND PROTOTYPE (Vladimir)
- Two crates (80 crystals each) were sent back to SICCAS
- First five crystals of 100 arrived from Crytur - overall these seem to represent a different category of quality control
- visual inspection including green laser - all look very good
- dimension measurements - on average 20.45mm x 20.45mm in area, all within the -100um/+0um tolerance
- transmittance measurement - cutoff ~350nm, T@420nm ~70% (c.f. SICCAS ~64%)
- very uniform so far - interesting to see if this will hold for larger quantity
- Prototype
- Assembly ongoing, stacking had to be redone due to corroded brazed strips (reason for corrosion seems to be due to method, optimization possible)
- Installation in Hall D could be as soon as end of October or alternatively around Thanksgiving, but before the end of the year, initial commissioning test plan has been developed
FRAME AND MONITORING SYSTEMS
- Construction and testing ongoing - update at next meetings
NEXT COLLABORATION MEETING
- Idea is to schedule adjacent to Hall A/C winter meetings as in previous year - waiting for dates to be known
- Should start discussing topics in next NPS meeting
OTHER
- Presentation of photographs of a calorimeter with hundreds of channels to illustrate cabling implementations (Bogdan)
- Brief discussion about progress with readout - update at one of next meetings (Alex)
- Mention of meeting with CPS working group to discuss review report items and path forward
- Discussion about assembly of NPS in scenario when some components are delayed
NEXT MEETING: THURSDAY 18 OCTOBER AT 8:00 AM (EDT)
