DISCUSSION ITEMS

  • Simulations
  • Shielding and magnet model
  • CPS Power absorber
  • Hall A/C model and design/implementation
  • Hall D design and radiation simulations
  • Other

PARTICIPANTS: Bogdan Wojtsekhowski, Hamlet Mkrtchyan, Donal Day, David Hamilton, Vladimir Berdnikov, Petr Stepanov, Rolf Ent, Marie Boer, Sean Dobbs, Steven Lassiter, Tanja Horn, Vardan Tadevosyan, Josh Crafts

MAGNET AND SHIELDING MODEL (Josh)

  • Cu core cooling channel and inner structure - fixed inside magnet
  • 180 degrees circular turn - rectangular does not give this radius of turn
  • Actions:
  • Need to work out tolerances to see all fits
  • Thermal expansion
  • Lifting feature
  • 180 degree turns - need special attention when stacking shielding blocks
  • Shielding stacking - 1.8 cm gap since magnet end does not align with a number of blocks (cm vs inch)
  • Action: to continue stacking: leave the gap as is - until know what actual size of bricks will be
  • filling of gap for shielding reason, not structural reason (different options available to fill the gap)

ENGINEERING/DESIGN (Steven L.)

  • Work in ongoing

CPS POWER ABSORPTION (Bogan)

  • W has essentially no thermal expansion
  • Deformation risk for Cu core due to high temperature (~400-500 degC)
  • narrow beam channel and 40cm long piece with width only few mm
  • can't afford deformation of inside slot (where beam is) - need beam alignment up to 1mm
  • should look at this and see how to include some room for motion - system is very compact
  • Actions:
  • Steven L. and team will start looking into this
  • Josh send step file to Steven

NEXT MEETING: FRIDAY 31 JULY AT 11:00AM (ET)
