MEETINGS UPDATE
- EIC@IP6:
- charter discussions
- convener appointment process ongoing
- software framework
- ECCE
- Simulations
- Conveners for calorimtry chosen: Friederike/Yongsun
- Mattermost - join
- SRO WORKSHOP
- Anyone interested in presenting on SRO email Doug
SIMULATIONS
- STANDALONE
- Discussion about JLab prototype simulation (Petr)
- based on Ho-San's NPS code
- features modular approach - materials (PWO, glass), photosensors (PMT, SiPM)
- uses one PMT per crystal
- investigating agreement with beam data - complete agreement difficult as many effects have to be taken into account; current approach: see how close one gets with PWO and then investigate SciGlass
- EIC FRAMEWORKS (FUN4ALL, ESCALATE)
- Discussion about state of implementation of EEEMCal in either framework (Carlos)
- Escalate has hybrid geometry and some analysis (track reconstruction?)
- Fun4All has PWO only and some analysis (no track reconstruction)
- Main goal seems to implement different geometry options in all frameworks to optimize for best physics performance
- ACTION ITEM: Ask ECCE calorimeter team (Friederike/Yongsun) for a meeting on simulations with all interested groups - also brief report on what is already there etc.
PROTOTYPE TEST UPDATES/READOUT
- Discussion about JLab 2021 planned prototype tests (Vladimir)
- Tests planned with different materials (PWO, SciGlass) and readout (PMT, SiPM) + streaming
- Note: new generation PWO means Crytur with different raw material (identified to resolve the issue of raw material shortage)
- Discussion about readout
- Plan to use array of SiPMs, but not yet clear how to deal with noise
- sphenix uses arrays of SiPMs but not for crystals - need to understand how arrays work for crystals or other homogeneous material
- Crytur-USA has concept ideas for crystal readout with SiPM arrays - can present next time
NEXT MEETING: MONDAY 3 MAY 2021 AT 8:30AM ET
- Simulation updates
- AANL
- MIT
- Readout/prototype tests
- Cytur-USA
- MIT
