CPS PROTOTYPE (Amy)
- prototype has been designed and built
- testing expected this summer
- results use to constrain thermal modeling - temperature profiles have been generated in FLUENT
- Questions:
- Water temperature difference between inlet and outlet: incoming 300 and outgoing 70
- When and where will the prototype test be performed: ongoing, parts are in, but need to be assembled
- How quickly warm up/cool down the prototype - if interlock does not work, how fast until the parts get too hot
- Action item: post slides
ROTATING TARGET SYSTEM (Dustin)
- Update on status of the target system - good progress with design - expect that basic validation can be done in a few months; beam tests require additional funding
- Without a rotating target system the polarization of the target would be lost within a few seconds
- Update on the target system would be good to include at the PAC51
- Action items:
- post slides
- provide information on materials in the target region as this will allow for more accurate activation radiation simulations
NEXT MEETING: FRIDAY 7 JULY AT 9:00AM ET
