DESIGN/ENGINEERING

  • Work ongoing on prototype

READOUT/ELECTRONICS

  • Order in for SiPMs 10um, 15um, and different device sizes
  • Larry I. made drawings for 2x2 matrices based on the earlier 3x3 matrices made by Steve Titus for the prototypes at JLab
  • Irradiation preparations
  • Discussions with UC Riverside
  • Follow up with UMass/Lowell - requires investment of ~$4k for one irradiation
  • Follow up with Giessen U. - parasitic test and will be done by the group when possible
  • Test bench tests with SiPMs and/or tests with beam - need to develop a concrete plan for this including goals and how these will be achieved before Sept 2024 (TDR date)
  • Test beam availability
  • CERN: March/April
  • DESY: requires submission of a request around March for beam time in summer
  • JLAB: available anytime (parasitic with main experiment in Hall D) after Sept 2024
  • Prototypes available
  • MIT: 5x5 PWO + PMT
  • CUA/JLAB: 3x3 + PMT, 3x3 + SiPM, 5x5 + SiPM (requires modifications)
  • Crytur USA: 5x5 + SiPM
  • IJCLAB/Orsay: 5x5
  • AANL: 4x4
  • Action: Justin will call dedicated meeting on SiPM/readout electronics tests

CRYSTALS

  • Size of the crystals is essentially fixed at this time
  • Strong motivation for 20.5mm x 20.5mm since Crytur already made hundreds of crystals stockpiled (never stopped production since Sept 2023, so have order hundred of crystals now)

DISCUSSION OF TDR PLANNING FOR EEEMCAL

- The lab/testbeam/prototyping needed; - The further progress needed for the reconstruction software; - The verification of the implementation of the detector and detector response in simulation and validation using information from lab/testbeam exercises or from literature; - The studies required to demonstrate the detector performance; - The required engineering design; - The needed resources to achieve 60% (CD-2) and 90% (CD-3) design completion; - The plan should include the time required to draft the text for the pre-TDR (CD-2) and TDR (CD-3).

NEXT MEETING: FRIDAY 9 FEB AT 8:00AM ET
