MAGNET UDPATE

  • Discussion about updated magnet model - ready for detailed design drawings
  • "pyramid pipe" fully implemented now. With this pipe there is enough space for iron to keep magnetic field as low as possible
  • Not much space between scattering chamber and magnet front, but it fits
  • magnet will be located on SHMS carriage, stands are being worked on, HB magnet will be removed whenever sweeping magnet installed
  • Final design drawings expected in 3-4 weeks - once ready can send to companies for iron cutting and coil procurement

CABLE MANAGEMENT

  • Decision has been made with Hall C for the overall strategy of cable management - patch panels will be at front of SHMS with exact location TBD
  • Next steps will include the logistics of where patch panels will be located and how cables will be routed
  • Fitting more than ~1000 cables will require a different solution

CRYSTALS

  • Tests on PbWO4 are ongoing at CUA and Orsay

PMTs AND HIGH VOLTAGE DIVIDERS

  • Work on CW bases ongoing at ODU - expect finalization by beginning of September

MAGNETIC SHIELDING OF PMTS

  • Discussion about estimating the effect of polarized target fringe fields
  • Jixie will send field map to Hamlet

FRAME AND MECHANICAL DESIGN

  • Assumes to use crystals from Hycal with dimensions 2.05 cm x 2.05 cm and PMT (Hamamatsu R4125) assembly with active base designed by Hamlet
  • Design drawings have been sent to IPNO, engineers looking at them

TCS WITH NPS

  • Discussion about Vardan's acceptance studies
  • TCS will use a fixed setup with two NPS-type detectors
  • Simulation assumes finite acceptance calorimeters - losing small angle acceptance as moving away from target (see page 5 of Vardan's slides)
  • Page 2 shows the target magnetic field in longitudinal configuration, but experiment requires transvere fields - need to check if assumed correct acceptance for the transverse configuration in the simulation, e.g., where coils/openings are located
  • Discussion about following up with Thia on photon source meeting

ADMINISTRATIVE

  • MRI annual report has been submitted

ITEMS FOR NEXT MEETING:

  • Magnet updates
  • PMT magnetic shielding update
  • Support structure and frame
  • Crytals and PMTs
  • Cable management update
  • Other...
