PROPOSALS

  • Document writing ongoing for all proto-collaborations
  • ATHENA - main contact: Vladimir
  • CORE - main contact: Carlos
  • ECCE - main contact: Tanja
  • Action: circulate any drafts as they are and/or post on Wiki for EEEMCAl team to review and comment

SIMULATIONS

ECCE (Nathaly)

  • Discussion of EEEMCAL and barrel calorimeter neutral pion mass resolutions
  • Approach: look at reconstructed pion mass for calorimeter and examine resolution of mass with changing energy
  • observe that width of mass decreases with increasing energy - makes sense as one gets a mesh or merged events (cannot distinguish photons anymore)
  • Probability of meshing in barrel near 100% at and above 10 GeV - so cannot distinguish two photons with this setup
  • note that calorimeter location has an inner radius of ~80cm - too close for present 4cmx4cm granularity
  • solution: use finer granularity, e.g., 3cm x 3cm
  • question: why does the probability for merging not go to zero? - possible explanation is that an energy cut is implemented, e.g., events where second photon at very low energy would not be included

ATHENA (AANL team)

  • working on extracting EEEMCAL information from the simulation

EEEMCAL DESIGN

  • Work ongoing on additional support for SciGlass since blocks are longer than crystals
  • use internal ring to provide additional support for glass
  • Inner ring - stainless steel - working on implementing cooling from inside taking into account all space constraints
  • Also working on implementation of readout - 16 SiPM on each module
  • Major next steps awaiting decision on detector
  • Action: think in which places to publish the design information
  • EEEMCAL internal - for sure
  • E&D EIC Project - is there a specific place for that?
  • Other

PROTOTYPES

JLAB SCIGLASS AND SiPM 25um READOUT/SRO TESTS

  • Readout and SRO detector prototypes installed in Hall D this week
  • Many SciGlass blocks were received damaged and awaiting replacement for 3x3 test - currently have 3 blocks installed in a beam test bench setup
  • Plan for prototypes and SciGlass
  • start taking data with PWO SiPM readout and SRO test
  • take data on SciGlass individual blocks in test bench
  • next: once replacements arrive install 3x3 SciGlass prototype and take data
  • Change in prototype beam time schedule
  • December beam time originally planned for tests of 40cm SciGlass was cancelled --> test of 3x3 prototype with long modules will be in 2022 earliest
  • Energy range of prototype beam tests - energy resolution provided by pair spectrometer and is on level of 0.6%
  • 3x3 prototypes have one energy only (~5 GeV) at this time. In future hope to install instrumentation that allows for remotely accessing a range between 2.5 - 6 GeV
  • 12x1 test bench can access a range
  • Plan for Testing SciGlass
  • take data with prototype - modules are 20cm long, so leakage is expected
  • compare to simulation

JLAB CRYTUR PROTOTYPE

  • Assembly and testing is ongoing at Crytur/CZ
  • For pretest at JLab before beam:
  • plan to take data with cosmic muons (1Hz) and/or sources to test channels
  • Action: send list of items that are needed for pretest and any additional material needed for beam test

DESY

  • Preparations ongoing - instrumentation has been shipped to DESY
