EEEMCAL IN THE DETECTOR PROPOSALS

ATHENA

  • August 1st planned for first simulation campaign
  • Opportunity for people to validate calorimeter performance in ATHENA framework

ECCE

  • AI supported optimization - in process of getting started
  • First simulation campaign included PWO - initial validation completed

SIMULATION UPDATE (Kheagan, Renee)

  • Electron ID and Background studies
  • e/pi separation
  • pair symmetric background
  • Started with EEEMCal response in ECCE - next could be ATHENA and CORE
  • e/pi very challenging in barrel with current configuration
  • Action:
  • extract resolution for calorimeter and tracking and compare to Yellow Report to see if fulfill requirements

EEEMCAL DESIGN

  • Attachment concept developed - now studying in detail
  • Cooling combined: EEEMCal frame and from back
  • need also maintain temperature
  • Actions:
  • check on allowable load
  • Crytur prototype: check dissipation of heat from electronics
  • INFN prototype: check impact on resolutoin of locating electronics at 15m away
  • Impact of aging on heat output - estimation of additional heat output from sphenix?

SIPM+PWO DETECTOR

  • Design ongoing
  • Aim for including variety of features that will provide information for large detector, e.g., trying to monitor and/or regulate gain/bias and monitor temperature of each channel

BEAM TESTS

  • JLAB: prototypes ready, two test beam periods (September ~6-27, November 15-end of run in December)
  • DESY: preparations ongoing, prototype expected to be shipped in September

NEXT MEETING: MONDAY 9 AUGUST AT 8:30AM ET
