OSCILLATIONS/NOISE ISSUE

  • See also the NPS Log entries:
  • We have a reasonable idea for how to eliminate this residual noise, but the work needs technician support.
  • Cross-talk was measured to be small and acceptable.
  • Spectra of integrals

Q&A AND DISCUSSION ON PATH FORWARD

  • Were the capacitors optimized?
  • determined what was needed and tested, found that it works, no further optimization was done
  • Are oscillations in phase with capacitor?
  • yes all in phase
  • 15 MHz oscillations about 30% of the time - it is inside the wave of the calorimeter signal
  • during production there will be no scintillator, but there will be other noise in the hall
  • analysis of the data
  • first issue was the specific usage of the software
  • second issue was that the mode should be mode 1 (raw mode) and not mode 7
  • Good to test the analysis including the multi-block mode
  • instructions in Wiki on how to decode and analyze the data - need updating
  • Software team: coordinated by D. Hamilton with contributions from Paul King, et al. - opportunities for additional people to contribute

  • To Do (additional):
  • thermal read back for light monitoring and curing (DSG working on it)
  • LED driver cables needed for driving LED system - need assembly (originally DSG was supporting this)
  • Software: need to test hcana with the firmware used in Hall C as well as the NPS firmware; multi-block mode main concern is not the FPGA but testing with V1190 - scaler injection and how it will be handled by the software in multi-block
  • firmware on f250 need to be updated (Ben Raydo has updated firmware) to support cluster info on VTP
  • cluster finding and LED
  • Concern about cooling fans - what happens if fan malfunctions, e.g., how to replace it
  • fix PMT that is not working well - need someone in charge of cosmic test
  • need someone in charge of cosmic test - checking bases etc.
  • installation in hall C: start on March 20 until July (see S. Lassiter installation schedule)
  • Action item: make schedule for installation
  • what people would like to do and who will be on site to do it
  • time line matching with installation schedule

NEXT MEETING: THURSDAY JANUARY 5TH AT 9:00AM ET
