ACTIVE HV DIVIDER (Fernando)

  • Tests show signal 1 GeV equivalent
  • Copper tape and ground significantly improves noise
  • Need likely PMT shielding and ground
  • shielding by itself will not be sufficient
  • in detector would need to ground mu metal shielding (tabs with wires) - need to decide if temporary or permanent design
  • Low voltage distribution
  • new prototype with x10 preamp being prepared
  • Overall a complex modification as detector box space very limited
  • A possible alternative: use existing pin from Samtec connection - requires new cables though
  • Actions:
  • Scheme for PMT shield+ground and LV cable layout model
    • figure out best way for low voltage distribution (e.g., quadrants)
    • address question: Use 2 or 4 D-sub 37 connectors/PCB?
    • Design LV distribution PCB
  • Full test of new prototypes and assembly of sockets
  • Design currently AC coupled - could be DC coupled too
  • Note that fADC is DC coupled
  • In past have observed baseline drifts for DC, e.g., due to temperature - for fADC doesn't matter much since taken into account in algorithms
  • DC coupled may be preferrable
  • Timeline estimate
  • by end of July should have good understanding of new design
  • production: ~2 month from start to finish
  • early October have all units and then need to assemble all sockets
  • estimate: done in December
  • NPS could be installed late 2022 - could run in 2023
all assembled in place, then moved to Hall C as one unit (like ComCal)

DSG UPDATES (Aaron)

  • Much progress!
  • HV supply cable fabrication done
  • HV supply cable testing is ongoing
  • Labview Keysight Scanning program development - code development and testing
  • crystal zone sensors
  • hardware protection - interlock system
  • temperature map

MECHANICAL UPDATE (Stephen L., Paulo)

  • Detector carriage - two components: detector + cable cart
  • Detector carriage in procurement
  • Cable cart design - certifications pending
  • Work with welding support brackets ongoing
  • Support structure that attaches to SHMS, e.g., staircase, platform
  • certifications ongoing
  • Action: post images of detector carriage, etc.

QUESTIONS ON POWER SUPPLY FOR NPS MAGNET

  • How high need to go? reversal switch needed?
  • PSU with current greater than 1,100A for some overhead
  • No need for polarity reversal switch
  • See magnet parameter documentation here: Link
