DISCUSSION ERR FINAL REPORT AND COLLABORATION RESPONSE

  • Discussion about the next steps to prepare a document addressing all recommendations from the report - this is required to get the green light for scheduling
  • Action items for addressing recommendations:
  • (1) Draft run plan (order settings, calibration procedure for experiments)
  • (2) Magnet: test will be scheduled summer/fall 2020; prepare a table of real parameters magnet (Steven L., Paul B.); finalize test in lab at low current - requires OSP - plan to submit in week 10 June
  • (2) Calorimeter: make table with all parameters; already tested divider under radiation up to 150 krad (Hamlet's paper), quartz fiber not an issue; fibers and LEDs will be tested at Orsay
  • (3) Estimates anode current for NPS and linearity; stay below 1mV (power supply issue); also note additional comments on post-ERR questions below
  • (4) Admin
  • (5) Admin
  • (6) Admin
  • (7) Verify that Pavel took into account radiator - also note that J/Psi experiment just ran in Hall C with that same radiator; Pavel can calculate activation doses in principle; GEANT4 estimate of doses at NPS electronics already exist
  • (8) Draft overall software development plan; simulation of trigger to demonstrate that highly efficient on cluster sums and not dead due to background - can be done with GEANT4 (Alex C); add calorimetry contact people

ADDITIONAL ERR QUESTIONS

  • MAGNET CONTROL
  • Calculations show that magnet trip does not significantly impact beam line/dump - never goes anywhere to be concern for accelerator
  • Hall C should be able to control magnet - get approval from Jay Benesch for this

  • CALORIMETER
  • Label 30 Gy/h and line shown in ERR slides inconsistent - clarification: line is in the wrong place
  • Discrepancies Pavel D. calculations and GEANT4 in particular at small angles - need to find out why dose/background rates so large in GEANT4 --> check; also affects ERR report #3 item

NEXT MEETING: THURSDAY 20 JUNE AT 9:00 AM (ET)
