SUMMARY NOTES

SIMULATIONS POWER DEPOSITION (Gabriel)

  • Apply two-Gaussian to all panels
  • Action: make a paramaterization in z (with some segmentation in x) - the quality of the tails in the fit may not be so important
  • Also investigate if possible to use lookup tables

SHIELDING MODELING (Josh)

  • Investigation of number of blocks - issue found and resolved
  • Pb blocks 1867, W blocks ~2200
  • expect Pb weight 28 tons, W weight ~20 tons
  • Surface quality: if block sizes small should have small tolerances - sensitivity in stacking
  • alternative: large W block, e.g. 10 tons or so like for spectrometer collimator?
  • Action: status of CUA tests with W blocks
  • Action: continue shielding model work

DESIGN/IMPLEMENTATION - THERMAL CALCULATIONS (Amy)

  • CPS: length: 20cm, width starts at a few mmm, depth
  • Action: investigate why temperature output high, e.g. heat source input too large (should be total 30kW for entire system), assumptions on cooling pipes, etc.

HALLD UPDATES - RADIATION SIMULATIONS (Hovanes)

  • Investigating energy deposition - cooling system
  • Working on Fluka simulations, modify gap and beam size and investigate energy deposition
  • Working on GEANT4 simulations - Jim Ritman team
  • Working with JLab RadCon team on another code - for beryllium source and CPS
