MCC Daily Meetings

Run Plan: Dec. 7 - Dec. 9

Beamline commissioning studies using the Hall B dump, followed by studies of the ECal and Trigger. The goal is to get usable CW beam to the Hall-B dump, set up the chicane, and begin to study beam backgrounds and trigger rates.

  • Establish CW 1 pass beam to the Hall-B dump, including checkout of all new beamline components, BPMs, quads, correctors, and harps.
  • Work with MCC crew to establish small size stable beam at the alcove harp - beam parameters sig X ~ 150 micron, sig Y ~50 micron, with low noise in the downstream halo counters and ecal.
  • Perform harp scans using 2H02 harp. Optimize halo counter voltages as needed.
  • Once good beam is established, commission the chicane magnet, including a study of noise rates (halo counters + ecal) vs B field. (We may need to run slightly lower than nominal B for our given beam energy to afford adequate clearance to the 3 inch beam pipe connected to the new target assembly. The beam pipe must accommodate both straight through and Frascati bent beams.)
  • Commission the HPS target, including measuring noise rates in the Ecal and halo counters vs beam current.
  • If time allows, begin commissioning the Ecal and trigger with beam on target and data taking.
