Every Shift:

  1. Follow run plan as outlined by RC
  2. Keep shift summery up-to-date in HBLOG
  3. Document any beam condition change and send scaler GUIs to HBLOG
  4. Continuously check quality of data

Run Plan: Nov. 9 - Nov. 10

Upstream beamline commissioning and beam tune using the tagger dump (beam will not go through the Hall). The goal is to get CW stable beam to the Hall-B tagger dump, on 2C24 harp (tagger harp) achieve beam parameters routinely delivered to Hall-B in 6-GeV era X/Y width ~<150 micron, and S/N on halo counters from harp wire >10E4.

  • Follow procedures in the "Beamline commissioning plan". Tuning beam to tagger dump is covered under item (A). Depending on the machine state, items (A.7) and (A.8) may not be feasible to complete at this time.
  • First establish 6-GeV era quality beam X/Y width ~<150 micron, and S/N on halo counters from harp wire >10E4 on tagger (2C24) harp.
  • Then, using optics setting used in A. Freyberger's "[1]" simulations, achieve needed beam parameters at 2C24/tagger harp to deliver HPS requested beam ("pancake") on target in downstream alcove.
    • In order to do above program, when CW beam is established, Hall-B beam halo counters and harps (2C21 and 2C24 or tagger) must be calibrated first. So it may take multiple harp scans to set harp motion limits and halo counter PMT gains. With any issue contact beam line expert or RC.
