Minutes
Present: Hovanes, Igor, Eugene, Vitaly, Sean, Tim, Pavel, Moskov
Announcements
- Igor told us that the registration for the KLF meeting is open: Registration page
Items from previous meetings
- Eugene looked at the problem of the optimal angle of the photon beam but does not have plots to show yet. He will send some plots after the meeting.
- Vitaly identified that the high does rate before the CPS is due to the radiator.
Simulation updates
- First we discussed where CPS could potentially located. The consensus was that it should be in-between the tagger magnet and the permanent magnet in the tagger hall .
- Vitaly considered in FLUKA a few examples of magnets that could be used for CPS with different length: 75cm, 145, 300cm.
- The energy depositions did not show much improvement for 145cm magnet and 300 cm magnet showed half of the maximum of the energy deposition but the length of the 300cm magnet was much larger than the spread.
- Hovanes pointed out that it does not make sense to use tungsten for 300cm magnet model because of high costs.
- Pavel, Eugene and Hovanes pointed out that the most important issue for choosing or designing the magnet is the heat deposition spread.
Action items
- Angle of photon beam with respect to the nominal beam line (Eugene, Moskov)
- Simulations of the dose rate without the radiator (Vitaly)
- Determine a data format for the energy deposition file used for temperature calculations .
- Hovanes will talk to Bogdan regarding the magnet choice.
