RULES: No arguing. Everyone will be heard.

Attendance

Thompson, Creel, Wright, Laverdure, Butler, Radovic, Wijernatne, Norton, Saringer, Schleeper, Yang

Goals

The purpose of this weekly meeting is to discuss plant operations and group projects with the cryogenics group managers and supervisors. During this meeting we will discuss ongoing and future projects, priorities, manpower, schedules, expenditures, and problems.

Agenda and Notes

1. Operations

CMTF is having problems with the LCLS2 cryomodule testing. They have had issues with reaching the desired pressure.

CHL C7 and C8 have their suction check valves installed sideways. People are going to call the manufacturer and make plans to turn them upright.

CM scheduled to warm up at the end of January.

Ops still looking for oil in the CHL recovery systems.

2. Projects

ESR Hall A 15K utube

A new utube is being fabricated with a manual valve to replace the existing utube because it has a leak. Drawings are released but have not been delivered to Scott to see and order parts.

UIM

The pre-shutdown work was scheduled to be finished by Christmas but it will spill over into January for about 1 week. The manufacturer has shipped the reworked venturies and they should arrive soon. (Dano, Troy, Fuentes, Conlin).

We are currently working on a new plan that splits the installation and commissioning/testing of CB3.

Venturies are on site but not with Scott yet. Scott will find them and Thilan verify them against the drawings. At the current time we believe we will be starting the shutdown on Feb 17. Jonathan is working with FM to plan to move the 480V electrical junction box above the new cold box.Thilan is working on the TOSP's for pressure testing. Buddy and I are working on a plan to install the junction box #4.

We will be holding weekly meetings with management to show them the progress during the shutdown. We need a detailed work plan from mechanical and electrical teams that show the expected work that should happen per day. Progress will be tracked and decisions will be made to make changes, add people, etc. based on demonstrated progress.

A meeting is planned to go over all of the work planned.

GPP

Designers are working on the drawings for moving the Kinney pumps. Shirley has approved the current conceptual design for the suction piping. Designer is also working on the cooling water header designs. The drawings are finished for the small warm gas tie ins that we will try to install during the Feb shutdown.

Paul is working on the detailed drawings. Some are ready for review.

CHL2 C6

The mechanical material has arrived. As soon as a crew becomes free they will start fabricating the piping spools. (Likely Willy)

We must order the electrical supplies including 4160v wire, 120v/480v conduit and wire.

We must find out the status of the funding from Rusty.

The electrical materials were ordered today. Piping spools are being fabricated now.

Rusty released the funding.

Perry is going to work up a plan for the CHL2 shutdown.

Scott needs a charge code.

UITF

Pressure tests completed. Vacuum, leaks sealed. CM should be in place in 2 weeks to allow the final utube measurements to be taken. Then it will take about 4-5 weeks to build the utubes. We have the parts.(Roy)

The thermosiphon can fabrication and installation is expected to take about 2 months to build and install. Likely to be Dano's crew once they complete UIM.

HDIce return line is a fill work. Its low priority.

Fab is working on the thermosiphon. The height of the can is sufficient.

LN2 supply line is being worked right now. Drawings are in checking for the vessel.

Control system has a couple of weeks of work left to do as soon as a tech becomes available.

Hall B 12GeV

We have been tasked with fabricating flex lines for the solenoid can. It will take approximately 4 months. (Jay)

Roland is continuing to work with Ruben on solenoid can instrumentation.

Torus was recooled and is ready for KPP's

MSU

We are working to accumulate the pressure systems documentation.

We are looking for an in house designer to replace the contractor Michael. The scope of the work is not clear.

Cory and Kelly are coordinating what additional work might move to MSU from JLAB.

LCLS2

All but 2 bayonets were shipped. The remaining 2 had to wait for the original valve we spec'ed to arrive. The SLAC group overrode our valve selection at design time and opted for a cheaper valve that does not meet pressure requirements.

We are building two recovery compressors. Due in July 17'. These will take more hours than estimated because of seismic modifications. (Issac)

We are building a guard vac skid for LCLS2. Not started. Due end of October 17'(Issac)

SLAC operations is interested in drafting a long term support agreement for after the machine is running. (??)

Cold compressor FDR was completed last week (results unknown). PHPK is continuing to fabricate the first set of warm compressors.

There are concerns about information ownership if we send the fundamental skid drawings that could then be modified. The compressor design is actually joint owned by JLAB and NASA and was used at MSU and LCLS2.

JLAB Guard Vac

The guard vac skid is mechanically installed. The electrical power and controls need to be finished. There is one more box to install. We are waiting for wire to be delivered to complete the job.

The electrical installation is 66.469% complete. The water tower pressures are compatible with the skid. Conduits and wiring are on order and should be here in a week for the final connections.

JLAB C8

On hold. The skid is mechanically finished. The skid is electrically 50% finished. There is no funding or plan to install the machine yet. Verify the installation of the check valve.

JLAB Vaporizer

We have most of the parts. The installation is on hold.

Hall B

Started building flex lines. It will take 1-2 months. Roland is finishing the I&C installation which much be done by end of Jan.

CHL to FEL Utubes

If a designer becomes available they will be placed on this project.

Its in Craig queue

CTF

The Kinney suction piping modifications are in engineering and design. The piping will be inside the building. We plan to buy supplies and fabricate by the end of FY17'

The gas management system modifications are in planning. This will require a shutdown to install.

Summer Maintenance Work Plan

Need to finalize our summer work plan. What are we planning to do, do we need to buy parts, and who is doing the work.

Action Items

1. Kelly will ping Rusty about funding for the electrical supplies for JLAB C6 installation.

2. Jonathan, Mat, and Thilan will complete the modifications to the CTF CB3 installation plan and try to get an answer on the Feb 17 shutdown.

3. Add other group engineers to this meeting.

Action Item Updates

1. As of 01/04/2017 Kelly reported that Rusty says to move forward with purchasing the electrical hardware for the CHL2 C6 installation.

I gave Buddy the go ahead to buy the parts.

2. Perform EI&C maintenance on CHL2 while it is down for 6 weeks this summer.

3. Perform EI&C maintenance on CHL1 while it is down for several months this summer.
