Purpose

Special meeting to discuss the recovery of Hall C, target arrangements, and ESR testing plans.

Attendance

Creel, Wright, Schleeper, Meekins, Lassiter, Bridza, Fowler, Sun, Kenyon, Meekins

Agenda and Notes

Hall C was not able to operate due to what appears to be a flow obstruction on the 4K supply piping, likely contamination build up. The transfer line is being warmed to remove the contamination. An RGA will be used to help determine the type of contamination. Only the transfer lines will be warmed, the magnets will be isolated and warming naturally. There is no apparent cause/source for the contamination.

This event is expected to cause a delay of roughly 1-2 weeks for ESR testing. Due to maintenance requirements on the Hall A target, this target will not be used for the testing. Additional load will be generated at the Hall C target to account for the missing target.

The Hall A target has been taken offline and u-tubes at ESR and in the hall have been removed.

Hall B torus and buffer dewar are cold and on cold return.

Some testing can be accomplished in this arrangement.

Hall C began cool down on 3/29/17 at about 1600 hours. There was no clear contamination spike or debris removed from the transfer line, however all DP measurements were consistent with theoretical predictions. After roughly 16 hours of cool down, there does not appear to be any blockage within the transfer line.
