Suffered an apparent cold compressor #5. We are investigating. We have contacted Air Liquide. We are working a plan toward opening the SC1 vacuum space. We have learned what we can from the mag bearing cabinets in their present setup. Today we are moving to connect MB#5 to CC#4 so we can complete the evaluation of the MB#5 cabinet. The cables for MB#5 are short and we are having to spend time pulling the cables out of the tray and rearranging them to get the extra length to allow us to make the connections.

Appears CC5 has suffered a failure. We have completed testing the bearing cabinet and did not find any problems. We are working a plan to disconnect the SC1 and warm it up so we can access and evaluate the failure. We have also requested Air Liquide complete the repair of CC4 and send it back as quickly as possible. They are estimating arrival at JLAB around 24 May. Utubes for the SC1 are planned in approximately 2 weeks because our tanks are full. Operations is working to off load helium back to Hall C and CTF to clear space.

Made the 4K transition yesterday. We have removed the replacing of the SC2 feed thrus from the summer work plan to reduce risk since we have picked up the extra SC1 work.

Hall C continues to have high SHMS back pressure is because of the flexible anaconda. We are planning a load test.

Hall C sent all of their liquid back to CHL so they could warm and purge their transferline. They have also reinstalled the original anaconda. Purge procedures are suspect. Hall A target utubes were removed to support them performing summer work. We will use the Hall C target to add the extra load. We have planned a load test as soon as soon as Hall C gets their magnets recooled.

1. There was an incident in the TestLab clean room where a worker knowingly left out support parts from the LCLS2 assembly that led to a failure of an internal bellows. This will cause a delay of several weeks.

1. 2L17 had a suspected vacuum leak. They used words like all eight tuners are frozen.

2. The Hall B solenoid suffered a failure of two support struts apparently because they were cut and welded instead of being one piece as the spec called out for. This will lead to 1-2 month delay in the solenoid arriving at JLAB.

Agenda and Notes

1. Operations

LINAC

Both LINACS at 4K

CHL1

Appears CC5 has suffered a failure. We have completed testing the bearing cabinet and did not find any problems. We are working a plan to disconnect the SC1 and warm it up so we can access and evaluate the failure. We have also requested Air Liquide complete the repair of CC4 and send it back as quickly as possible. They are estimating arrival at JLAB around 24 May. Utubes for the SC1 are planned in approximately 2 weeks because our tanks are full. Operations is working to off load helium back to Hall C and CTF to clear space.

CHL2

ESR

Hall C sent all of their liquid back to CHL so they could warm and purge their transferline. They have also reinstalled the original anaconda. Purge procedures are suspect. Hall A target utubes were removed to support them performing summer work. We will use the Hall C target to add the extra load. We have planned a load test as soon as soon as Hall C gets their magnets recooled.

CTF

The CTF shutdown is underway. The mechanical work is complete. Leak checks are complete. Pressure testing is planned for today. Controls are scheduled to be finished by Sunday. It is likely the restart will take more time because of retraining PIDs and offsets in temperature readings.

HDR

Normal. Hall D has approached us about transitioning the magnet to 80K which would also allow us to perform maintenance such as clean up and working on the turbine inlet valve.

2. Projects

UIM

The CTF shutdown is underway. The mechanical work is complete. They are working on leak checks, pressure tests, and continuing with the control system conversion.

UITF

Thermosiphon is being fabricated. There is a significant amount of controls work left to be done before this system can be made operational. We will likely start the controls work after the C6 installation.

MSU

We sent a compressor alignment package to Fabio.

LCLS2

Recovery compressors on track for July. Still have not seen drawings for water skid. Dana gave a re-plan to LCLS2 project management.
