Issue Statement
- When T2 at ESR trips off, the turbine continues to spin much longer than expected. There is a concern that the turbine will be damaged if it does not stop spinning when the inlet valve is closed. On a few occasions, the turbine continued to spin (~500Hz) until the the plant was re-started.

Agenda and Notes
1. What do we need to do to fix this problem.
-Several things can be done to correct the issue. The least impact (from an operational view) would be to isolate and warm up the turbine temporarily.
2. Is this really a problem (I think that this is a big problem)
-Absolutely. The bearing gas system isn't yet fully understood. Regardless, a turbine spinning when bearing gas is not active would certainly wear the turbine.
3. Why do we think this is a problem (Is bearing gas on during that time)
-See above.
4. Should we be doing something manually?
-For long outages, consider closing the manual valve on the T2 outlet.
5. Other questions that we need to make sure we have answered.
Action Items
- investigate bearing gas process at ESR// T2 uses bearing gas upon start up. T1 uses no bearing gas.
- Verify LVDT on turbine inlet valve// This can only be done with CBX de-pressurized?
- Warm T2. Schedule. Dependent on transfer line. // Transfer line is available, warm up by 1/25/17, expect 24 hours
- Check seating force of T2 inlet valve (require trip?) to verify proper operation, can only be done with CBX de-pressurized
- Can T2 be isolated to support troubleshooting without damaging turbine or stopping entire CBX?// Communicate with controls to stage a trouble shooting system that can be initiated CBX trip
- Develop plan to isolate CBX in the event T2 must be stopped, and/or CBX must be tripped.
- Verify that we have a spare.//we have a spare for each ESR turbine
- What is required to check seating force (operationally)?
- Create an alarm that will alert us when turbine inlet valves are closed and turbine speed is > 0.
- drink a beer/ complete. will perform again 1/23
- Get the transfer line from CHL operational// Done
- follow-up meeting ~1/20/2017. // 1/23
- Contact Pete to begin information/data collection, vendors, contacts.// m-drive location has been found
- Is there an IA isolation valve that can be used so the IA solenoid valve can be replaced?
- Do we have a replacement solenoid valve for the IA to the inlet valve solenoid?

case, the IA solenoid valve can be replaced while T2 is warming.
