PARTICIPANTS: Carlos, Hamlet, Joerg, Renee, Richard, Taya, Vardan, Vladimir, Tanja, Sasha, Rosi, Crytur-USA

SIMULATION ACTIVITIES

  • Simulation tasks related to electron endcap and barrel EMCals
  • Team: AANL, FIU, IJC-Orsay, ... others interested
  • U. Kentucky is interested as well
  • Performance studies: resolutions, etc.
  • Framework is same as usual, but need to implement the latest geometries and materials, etc.
  • Discussion about which Geant4 to use (DD4HEP vs. Fun4All)
  • There are several arguments for starting with Fun4All
  • There are several near term items like study materials effect - largely independent of framework
  • both endcap and barrel are already implemented in this framework
  • in longer term a single framework is desired, but it may be neither of the present two
  • Action items:
  • post simulation list
  • send any comments/questions for the barrel EMCal list that was circulated by the Detector-1 Calo group to Carlos or any of the other Calo Conveners

PROTOTYPE BEAM TESTS

  • Completed DESY prototype tests
  • good performance crystals
  • SciGlass data collected - signals detected from all blocks, analysis required before one can detail performance
  • JLab test preparations
  • SiPMs on site and preparing matrices, boards, etc.
  • beam spot identified
  • chiller purchased
  • Beam tests expected for September/October 2022 timeframe
  • SciGlass
  • Crystals/glass with SiPM matrix readout, different pixel pitch
  • Crytur prototype
  • components optimized for reducing heat generation
  • started cosmic tests today

MEETING WITH EIC PM ABOUT POSSIBLE FUNDING

  • Sent email to EIC PM - waiting for response
  • Action item:
  • follow up with EIC PM as needed to schedule a meeting
  • gather information about international participation in NSF grants

DISCUSSIONS EIC PM EM CALORIMETERS

  • Discussion about moving PWO from long lead items list
  • Crytur estimate is 60-70 crystals/month
  • this would mean that first orders can go into procurement in 2025
  • Important to consider: Crytur has no orders beyond December 2022 - to not shut down
  • a few months in 2023 at 20 crystals/month would help
  • Action item: Sasha will further disuss this with EIC PM

NEXT MEETING: FRIDAY 1 JULY AT 8:00AM ET
