MEETINGS PROJECT WITH DSC

  • From Elke 7 July email (forwarded on 7/7 to the EEEMCAL group): The meetings will be structured that we combine different subsystems, so ECals, HCals, tracking, PID, …. The topics to be discussed will be
  • Requirements, please familiarize yourself with the current requirements, see https://eic.jlab.org/Requirements/ and attached file, so you can let us know at the meeting what is missing.
  • The needs for Services: this includes HV, LV and signal cables as well as the need for cooling, please see next items for details. For this we absolutely need the excel sheets posted here https://wiki.bnl.gov/EPIC/index.php?title=Project_Information filled, we will help in the meeting if there are problems to do so
  • we need to get the readout chain defined (see the same excel sheets as for the services, just different tabs). This means we need to know the size of the planned RDOs and how far you can drive your signals, so we can find a place for the RDO in the detector volume. but we also need information on the FEBs and the sensors.
  • in addition to this we need to define the cooling needs for the different sub-detectors so please think about your electronics power consumption.
  • and last but not least the test beam needs, thanks all who filled the excel-sheet already TestBeamNeeds.xlsx
  • Action items:
  • check the spreadsheets on services and readout and update as needed
  • for test beam keep things open for now. In the spreadsheet enter the general requirements, e.g., number of weeks, electron beam, energy range

NSF MSRI

  • Still in the running, but some delays
  • Action items:
  • Ask if there is anything that is needed from EEEMCAL side - offer meeting if it is useful
  • Follow up with Crytur on how to keep production going. Present orders are until the end of September 2023

EEEMCAL talk at the EICUG/EPIC meetings

  • Carlos presented the talk
  • One question by Oleg about the light monitoring system - referring to the CMS one that was quite complex
  • for EEEMCAL still early in the design
  • for EIC in general consider that the expected rates are different from CMS
  • EIC uses PWO-II (same as PANDA and JLab projects after 2014) while CMS uses PWO-I

CRYTUR PROTOTYPES

  • Planning to test the 6mm x 6mm SiPMs and have designs ready. Looking for funding.
  • The earlier prototype that was also tested at JLab was recently checked in beam at Mainz. Some improvements were identified and are being implemented.
