PARTICIPANTS: Carlos, Justin, Tanja, Richard, Sasha, Julie, Hamlet, Vardan, Yeran, Larry, Irina, Ioana, Miroslav

NSF PROPOSAL

  • No news - still in the running

CRYSTAL REVIEW

  • Overall went well - final report states that ready for next step towards procurement

DSC-PROJECT REVIEW ON READOUT AND SERVICES

  • Discussions about EEEMCAL needs for services, readout chain definition, etc.
  • Main conclusion was that not enough information to decide between discrete electronics/ASIC for EEEMCAL at this time. Measurements are needed to obtain that information.
  • In proposal: used long cables, in that case do not have more power deposition, but then have mechanical issue to get all the cables out

EEEMCAL READOUT INVESTIGATIONS

  • Investigate: Stability, linearity, power deposition
  • general thoughts about discrete electronics: more stable, linear, etc., but more cables and power deposition is higher (exact number has to be measured) - might be factor 10 - so need to make measurements
  • present cooling system design has some margin, but need to know exact numbers to know if the margin is sufficient to absorb discrete electronics increased power deposition
  • Measurements needed: Measure power deposition, Measure linearity
  • Actions for EEEMCAL
  • (Justin, FIU) Discrete electronics: pushed by Indiana (Gerard Visser) - work with them to make these measurements

Get boards that he used for STAR fADC at JLab - these boards are similar (a little worse than fADC125)

  • (Carlos, Justin, FIU) ASIC - work with OMEGA

Main person from ORNL is Norbert

TECHNICAL REVIEW - DAC

  • next week August 29 and August 30 (Sasha talk is on Wednesday)

SIPM REVIEW

  • Review is on September 14th - dry runs are on Sept 5/6
  • Separate talks on the EMCals
  • Carlos/Tanja will be in touch on slides next week

SIMULATION MEETINGS

  • will be alternating weeks on Fridays at 9AM ET
  • include simulations on power deposition and linearity etc.

NEXT MEETINGS

SIMULATIONS: FRIDAY 1 SEPTEMBER AT 9AM ET

GENERAL: FRIDAY 8 SEPTEMBER AT 8AM ET
