POWER DEPOSITION AND STRESS/THERMAL CALCULATIONS
- calculation results look similar (Bogdan/Steven)
- heat transfer/cooling efficiency - calculations ongoing
- Action items:
- work out engineering analysis and plan
- conceptual design report
- stress analysis and other considerations
- design parameters
- material behavior under irradiation (neutron flux 10^12 neq/cm^2)
- review by experts, e.g. beam dump experts from SLAC
- Discussion CPS time frame
- 2021/22: magnet conceptual design and tungsten block
- Need ~2-3 years to assembly
- Anticipated completion ~2024/25
TCS UPDATES
- Investigation of smaller time window
- with aggressive timing cuts can get to acceptable data rate (20 ns --> 60kHz --> ~15 kHz)
- need to confirm that data quality remains good (correlation plot)
- Action items:
- demonstrate exclusivity including all physics backgrounds
- For physics background could check with single pi0 analysis in Hall D/B
