POWER DEPOSITION AND STRESS/THERMAL CALCULATIONS

  • calculation results look similar (Bogdan/Steven)
  • heat transfer/cooling efficiency - calculations ongoing
  • Action items:
  • work out engineering analysis and plan
  • conceptual design report
  • stress analysis and other considerations
  • design parameters
  • material behavior under irradiation (neutron flux 10^12 neq/cm^2)
  • review by experts, e.g. beam dump experts from SLAC
  • Discussion CPS time frame
  • 2021/22: magnet conceptual design and tungsten block
  • Need ~2-3 years to assembly
  • Anticipated completion ~2024/25

TCS UPDATES

  • Investigation of smaller time window
  • with aggressive timing cuts can get to acceptable data rate (20 ns --> 60kHz --> ~15 kHz)
  • need to confirm that data quality remains good (correlation plot)
  • Action items:
  • demonstrate exclusivity including all physics backgrounds
  • For physics background could check with single pi0 analysis in Hall D/B
