DESIGN MODELS, STRESS/THERMAL CALCULATIONS

• Successful implementation of functional forms in FLUENT

• volumetric heat equation
• timeline estimate about six weeks to complete

• Radiation swelling of copper research

• literature from fusion
• should not be a concern as long as use oxygen free copper - c.f. beam dump made of copper as well

• Lifting study being planned for near future - identify any obstacles, etc.

ENGINEERING ANALYSIS AND PLANNING

• Engineering plan work ongoing

MAGNET DESIGN MODIFICATIONS

• Increase magnet length and width by 20cm to facilitate engineering; increase length to 8mm between poles

• all vertical dimensions same, yoke same

• Rough analysis shows much stress - needs more detailed analysis

• Actions:

• pass on TOSCA analysis to Steven L.
• start design end of July
