General EEEMCal Meeting Summary 12/8/23

NSF MSRI

• Under internal review at NSF

• Action item: follow up with NSF if possible to get a timline for the decision process - going into the new year people are making plans for the outyears

READOUT/ELECTRONICS

• Coordination of SiPM purchases

• idea is to procure 100 SiPMs of four different types:

• S14160-6015PS: 6x6 mm2, 15um pitch
• S14160-3010PS: 6x6 mm2, 10um pitch
• S14160-3015PS: 3x3 mm2, 15um pitch
• S14160-3010PS: 3x3 mm2, 10um pitch

• Costs are $110/unit for 1-99 quantity and $58/unit for 100-200 quantity
• For making the decision may not need 100 SiPMs - could plan

• Action items:

• Justin makes list of SiPMs needed
• Olivier/Irina check if can set up a meeting with Hamamatsu rep to make aware of large order and if they can provide few SiPMs to test at favorable pricing

• Coordination of SiPM irradiation

• Justin checking at UMass-Lowell
• Tanja check with Giessen U.
• Renee check at UKY

• Test beam opportunities

• JLab available in fall 2024 - electron beam
• MAMI electron beam
• LHC test beam lines - mixed beams; already scheduled beam time for forward calorimeter (April/May 2024)
• DESY - may be available after July 2024 - to send equipment there order of $3000 each way
• Fermilab - down for one year
• Action item: come back to this in January - more detail on each facility and planning for what is needed

MECHANICAL DESIGN

• Next meeting maybe a update

• Ongoing studies on stability, thermal design, etc.

EIC PROJECT

• Start preparing procurement documents - Sasha will contact with needed documents
