NSF PROPOSAL

  • UKY, JMU, W&M, MIT have submitted or are close to submitting their final budgets and other required documents to their SPO
  • budgets have changed but overall we are within the required max limit
  • spectrophotometer now comes with a dedicated computer and software - should argue that this is part of the equipment since it does not work without it
  • OU, Lehigh, ACU, FIU have started preparing the documents and finalizing the budgets
  • some discussions between all institutions on the budgets on going
  • FIU encountered an issue with accessing the pre-proposal in Research.gov. Working on resolving it
  • All required documents should be submitted to the CUA SPO by 4 November
  • For narrative overleaf links and review/writing assignments see email

DESY BEAM TEST PREPARATIONS

  • MIT equipment has arrived at DESY - everything is set to go for the 5x5 prototype
  • The two SiPM channels for the MIT prototype are ready
  • Josh/Larry have been testing the modules - two are ready, one is still being checked
  • Action: send waveforms to the group when ready
  • Status of the online diagnostics for the MIT prototype and also Crytur: see email by Casey Morean
  • IJCLab-Orsay prototype has been experiencing delays but still expect to be ready for the beam test
  • boards are scheduled to arrive early next week, which should leave time for testing and shipping to DESY
  • The IJCLab-Orsay prototype will not have the fADC/discrete readout option for the beam test, but Gerard will try to evaluate some of the modules on the test bench
  • working with Justin/Larry to get these boards manufactured
  • Crytur prototype is ready
  • Action: circulate the readout electronics scheme to the group
  • The next call for proposals for the 2025 Spring test beam is out
  • will discuss during/after test beam if we submit an application

EPIC PRE-TDR DISCUSSION

  • Expect comments in the next few weeks
  • Next deadline is 1 December
  • need to fill in some project management related sections for that draft

EIC PROJECT

  • Review for CD3B is ongoing next week - for crystals this is relevant for some of the long lead procurements
  • Crytur has received the communication for submitting quotes etc. for the FY25 crystal orders - in discussion with BNL about the details

DOE FOA ON EIC GENERIC R&D

  • Seems to be a more formal continuation of the EIC R&D program. Deadline is on 14 November
