Meeting Notes

Attendees: Thomas, Patrick, David, Torri, Hovanes, Jiawei, Cristiano, Armen, Naomi

  • Lawyers happy on both sides now
  • Conference preparations underway

Progress

  • Patrick
    • Diamond dosage
      • Reached out to Jiawei
        • Jiawei tried some suggestions from Hovanes and couldn’t come up with any absolute location dosage.
        • David reiterated the use of relative positions.
        • Hovanes was hoping that a combination of Richard’s scan would yield the edges/absolute position.
        • Hovanes asked Jiawei if the web interface was used.
      • Jiawei showed some plots of the diamond scans (comparing Richard to Hovanes)
        • Very hard to orient.
        • Hovanes offered some suggestions on how to match up but agreed that with what Jiawei looked at, they can’t be matched up.
      • David asked about seeing what the nudge actually does (with respect to the coherent edge) as well as drift over time.
      • Patrick showed some of the GPR results on delta c predictions from delta E.
        • Naomi asked about using a stable beam only.
        • Armen suggested other kernels/noise to enhance.
  • Armen
    • Showed some slides
      • Plot of reward vs position of edge vs required edge
        • Did not like the possibility of getting a negative reward close to the required beam.
        • Changed reward to a step function… still not happy.
      • New environment: Normalize action/observation space.
      • Better reward distribution achieved!
      • Showed some TensorBoard plots about the training.
      • Reiterated the point that normalization is not preferred but saw evidence that a norm was needed.

Milestone Review

  • Out of time. Please review the milestones (Patrick) 1-4 and address or tidy up.
