Remote Work Policy (Click "Expand" to the right for details -->):
We are actively planning to establish a post-pandemic remote work policy for Jefferson Lab. This will be based on our experience over the past year and best practices gleaned from other labs and workplaces. A recommended hybrid work model will be presented to lab leadership in early June. Once a leadership decision is made we will communicate the plan and implementation approach to all staff. Our goal is to have this enduring remote work policy in place for the start of the fall school year.
Our hybrid work model will give many Jefferson Lab employees the flexibility to work remotely according to schedules coordinated with their supervisors. This flexibility will be dependent on the nature of the employee’s job and the needs of the laboratory. This model requires that most employees live in the immediate vicinity of Jefferson Lab so they can be on-site as required to perform their jobs and interact with others. A few staff performing highly specialized jobs that can be performed without regular on-site presence may be authorized for out-of-state work location but these will be limited due to the costs and complexities of maintaining multi-state employment capability. We hope to approve relocation of recently-hired out-of-state staff to Virginia as soon as the DOE imposed travel freeze is lifted.
