Announcements

  • Proposal for DOE FOA LAB_20-2261 has been submitted
  • Some low-level parts of the Intel TBB package are being deprecated
    • HEP experiments use some of this and are needing to refactor
  • Thomas and Graham (and Markus) had a meeting last week with the BNL + EIC folks to discuss use of the OSG
    • Working out details on oasis support for large numbers of jobs
    • Thomas spoke with Bryan H. this morning. Working out final details and will update Graham over next couple of days.
    • The older jlab.eic VO(=Virtual Organization) that was set up some time ago is being deprecated in preference to a non-lab-specific VO name.

JLabCE

  • EPSCI will be taking over maintenance of the JLabCE Common Environment for 3rd party scientific software.
  • Meeting on Friday next week to finalize details
  • Will try and standardize use of "module load XXX" with appropriate meta packages for each Hall or group so they have control over their specific versions while providing a common interface for all Halls/groups

Hall A/C Software

  • No one in our group has any experience with the software used in Hall-A/C so we need to start getting involved there
    • Carl was asked to volunteer to try compiling the code, but had mic issues so was not able to accept or decline (we assumed he accepted)
  • Rumor is that Hall-A is investigating ways to implement multi-threading (not using JANA2)
    • We should become involved so we know what is driving their design choices and are available to help as needed.
    • David will send e-mail to Ole to introduce him to Nathan so he can find out the status of their testing and if they need any help

JANA2

  • Work is still progressing and features are being implemented

SRO

  • Graham and Jerome (BNL) have formed a committee of 2 to help build a road map of SRO development for EIC
    • Three main factions currently involved in EIC ERO that need to have roles clarified
      • SRO Consortium, Yellow Report Working Group, BNL DAQ group
