Minutes:

Attendees: David L., Carl T., Nathan B., Kishan R., Vardan G., Graham H., Thomas B.

SPACK

  • Wouter contacted Thomas recently asking for info. about the latest kernel. Thomas will follow up with him.
  • Nathan will work with Thomas to get some momentum on the project

EVIO-6

  • Feature implementing dictionaries was not tested before so is being tested now
  • Continued minor bug fixes

SOLID

  • Carl will contact SoLID folks to find out when they have regular meetings and how we can connect so we can start attending occasionally.

JANA2

  • Updated to get janadot feature working
    • janadot is mechanism that allows call graph to be recorded along with timing of different algorithms

AI

  • SciComp website being updated to include pages on:
    • Using sciml nodes with GPUS (will add section on custom kernel)
    • Using Jupyterhub (contacted Wes and has notes to start page)
  • Hydra
    • Code Jam on Friday with Thomas and Kishan (~14hrs)
    • Code has been made more modular so different deployment options can be more streamlined
    • Version 0.9
    • More testing planned for this Friday followed by another week of development
    • Expect paper writing to be done in Dec.

CODA/DAQ Support

  • Bryan Moffit currently testing fixes to cmsgb implemented by Vardan
    • New CODA version 3.10_arm
  • Received message from Steve W. about errors on 32-bit systems with rcgui
    • Temporary solution applied using the -nofx option which reduced graphics abilities

SRO

  • Vardan went to JLab last week to work with Dave A. to get system setup in Indra lab using 8 fADCs
    • Small difference in data format used in Indra firmware and format used in Hall-B caused initial crashes, but has now been resolved.
    • Systems runs, but no hits are seen in the data stream. Ben may revert to older firmware version to test that. Ben and Dave A. will investigate
  • Vardan has obtained access to ALICE code for SAMPA chip
  • Vardan will contact Chris L. about him testing his Data Lake software with his software data source soon.

Offsite Computing

  • Production of GlueX data offsite continues at PSC, IU, and NERSC
    • Some issues with missing output files in few percent of jobs needs workaround
    • NERSC multi-task jobs are running but supplementary script must be run by hand at JLab to move files to tape
      • May be possible to move that functionality into SWIF2. Will need to meet with Chris to discuss.
  • OSG test jobs have been trying to run at JLab.
    • Some issues with files not making it to worker nodes.
    • Significant progress though on getting this far. JLab SciComp/OSG team actively pushing across finish line.
      • Thomas says: failure==progress
